Come, you spirits! Tony winner (and Broadway.com Audience Choice Award nominee) Alan Cumming is taking on nearly every role in the classic Shakespeare thriller Macbeth, opening officially on April 21. Directed by John Tiffany and Andrew Goldberg, Macbeth will play a limited engagement through June 30 at Broadway’s Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
This unique production of Macbeth revisits the Shakespearean tragedy in the mind of a lone patient in a clinical room deep within a psychiatric ward. Cumming retells the classic story, playing almost every role, while the production utilizes multimedia in its reinterpretation of the text.
Macbeth features set and costume design by Merle Hensel, lighting design by Natasha Chivers, sound design by Fergus O’Hare and projection design by Ian William Galloway.
